Walking with God – An Overview – Part 1

The day I write this, I am a 49-year-old woman, who is currently on another journey in my life.  At this age, I can sit back and realise that my life has been full of journeys and they have all created who I am today, either good or bad.  Like everyone, my life has had different stages.
Childhood, where I was a daughter trying to work out my independence and where I stood in life while trying to please my parents.
Late teens/20’s, where I was still trying to work out my independence, figuring out how to be a partner/girlfriend/wife and a mother, feeling like I was not doing a good job at anything. While still trying to please everyone.
30’s/40’s, establishing life as a single mother, seeing what independence looked like, just surviving as best as I could while life threw everything it had at me.  And still trying to please everyone.
To now.  My ‘now’ started in 2016 and has had so many twists and turns that its been quite traumatic. BUT it has to lead me to today, where I am very aware that God is walking beside me and supporting me.  I always knew this, but now I can feel it and I so so need him right now.
I have been ‘told’ to write my story.  When I say ‘told’, I mean every day I have a little voice in my head telling me that I need to share my spiritual journey with people and it is getting louder and louder every day.
I am a questioner, someone who needs to understand all things that interest me.  I am also a very spiritual person, who has ‘talked’ to God nearly every day of my life.  I plan to live till I am 105, so I guess what I’m going through right now is what we would call a ‘midlife crisis’ 😛
I am a sharer. Not in a pushy way, but if people can benefit from my knowledge I will share it.  If it helps people to get through something then I will share my experience.  BUT I am also a very private person, so I do not openly let the whole world know about every part of my life.
The best way to share, for me is by blogging/writing something.  That way I can pour my heart out and be 100% honest without seeing the look of judgement on people’s faces. So often I will have conversations with people, hold back my questions, or thoughts and then think it over for a while.  Then in the next day or so, I will write them a message offering my thoughts or asking my questions.

I also have a policy that I will not express my hurt or anguish or thoughts with people until I ‘sit on it’ for a while.  If in a few days I still feel the same way and I can not let it go, then I will send the person a message.

Oh, and I am someone who believes that there is good in everyone.  I love everyone (some more than others 😛 ).  Everyone is on their own journey and we do not have the right to judge anyone.  We should be celebrating everyone’s success and supporting everyone when they need support.  Just because people do, say, act in ways that we may not necessarily agree with us, does not make them ‘bad’ or ‘wrong’ and us ‘good’ and ‘right’.
I was sitting talking to an Aunt one day shortly after I had had my 2nd child and she said to me, always remember to tell your children that what they did was naughty, not that they are naughty… no one is bad, their actions may be bad, but it doesn’t mean they are bad.  This really sat with me… I have always remembered it.  No-one is bad or evil, their actions may be bad and evil, but deep down they are just like all of us, trying to find their way in the world.
My mind is always thinking, always processing, always searching. I love learning 🙂
God has been in my life from as far back as I can remember, he has been a constant.  Sometimes he is there as a very strong presence, other times he is in the background, with me knowing he is there if I ever need him.  Like all of us, I have probably not lived the best life I could, but God does know I’ve tried.

I have struggled with religion, peoples opinions and actions.  But I have never struggled with my belief in God, he is real, he does love me and he has my back.  I have known this forever.  This doesn’t mean I understand him or understand why somethings happen.  But I do know that he is ‘real’…
I feel there is a lot to go through here, so over the next few blogs, you will hear about all the stages of my journey with God.  You will receive as much background as I can remember and I will share with you my journey in the ‘now’…
These blogs will not have the ability to comment as I do not want to have any negative comments on here.  But if you would like to reach out to me, you can by direct messaging me on Facebook (Messenger) => https://www.facebook.com/sonya.noonan1

Book Review – 4 Disciplines of Execution: Getting Strategy Done

4 Disciplines of Execution: Getting Strategy Done

Author: Sean Covey, Chris McChesney & Jim Huling

Sonya’s Review:  This is a really ‘new’ book to me, a good friend of mine introduced me to it 🙂 and we have had many conversations about it.

It was one of those books that ‘just make sense’.  I’ve known about goals for a really long time, but never heard of them explained so simply. 🙂

A Goal takes you from point A to point B by a certain time. Thats it, just that, so simple… 🙂

The Four Disciplines of Executionare:

  1. Focus on the Wildly Important;
  2. Act on the Lead Measures;
  3. Keep a Compelling Scoreboard;
  4. Create a Cadence of Accountability.

To achieve our goals we need to look at the process, what will it take for us to get from point A to point B???

I could rave about this forever, but wont bore you 🙂

MOST Definitely a MUST read type of book 🙂

Publisher’s Summary

An insightful new work from the multimillion-copy best-selling author Sean Covey and the FranklinCovey organization, based on their work with hundreds of thousands of employees and large companies to unveil the essential disciplines proven to help businesses and individuals realize their most important goals.

A publishing phenomenon, Sean Covey and the FranklinCovey organization have become one of the most respected brands in the highly competitive world of thought leadership in business. In his latest work, Covey lays out an unprecedented plan for goal-realization that will revolutionize the way we approach our dreams.

The 4 Disciplines of Execution provides a simple, proven formula for achieving the goals that every individual or organization needs to reach. From Marriott to the U.S. Navy, Covey and his team have worked with more than 200,000 people in hundreds of organizations to improve performance, identifying and honing four secrets of perfect execution: Focus on the Wildly Important; Act on the Lead Measures; Keep a Compelling Scoreboard; and Create a Cadence of Accountability. By allowing teams to separate those urgent tasks that demand attention merely to keep a company alive – called the “whirlwind” – from new, “wildly important” goals that promise to break new ground, these disciplines empower leaders to accomplish what is by far the most difficult aspect of creating results: executing a strategy that requires a change in behavior. Simply put, this is a work that no business, however small or large, can afford to pass up.

Book Review – Multiple Sources of Income – Positive Expectations

Multiple Sources of Income – Positive Expectations

Author: Bob Proctor

Sonya’s Review:  A book about multiple sources of income, released in 2005, surely this was ahead of the times, not sure how many people were actually out there looking at multiple sources of income in 2005. 🙂

This book is by Bob Proctor, another favourite of mine. 🙂

It only takes 1 hours to listen to, 30 minutes if played on double the speed.  🙂

This is only and audio book, so you need to listen to it, write notes and then listen again 🙂 I ‘studied’ it on a plane over 3.5 hours, wrote lots of notes and have lots of ideas 😉

Definitely a MUST read type of book 🙂

Book Review – No More Dreaded Mondays

No More Dreaded Mondays

Author: Dan Miller

Sonya’s Review:  Another Dan Miller book 🙂 Another must read 🙂

Wisdom, passion, working in the ‘job’ that you love.  All common themes from Dan and I love every one of them.

Even before I was ‘introduced’ to Dan I had the same belief.  I use to tell my kids, they could do anything they wanted in life if they just wanted it bad enough.  I was never going to dictate to them what they should do as a career, it was always their choice.

There are so many people that are unhappy with their work. Why not do something about it? Find your passion and go for it 🙂

Yep, definitely a MUST read type of book 🙂

Book Review – The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich

The 4-Hour Workweek: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich

Author: Tim Ferriss

Sonya’s Review:  I had heard of the 4 Hour Work Week for quite a while before I decided to read it.  It is this huge big book full of amazing information that we could all implement into our businesses 🙂

I only ever succeeded at implementing one of the ideas and it changed this so much for me.  He spoke about the fact that when we try to make appintments with poeple we go back wards and forwards trying to come up with a date and time that suites us both, and this takes up way too much time.  He recommended implementing an online diary that people could book in.  So if someone mentioned they wanted to have a meeting with you, you just send them a link to yur diary and they book themselves in.  This literally changed my life 🙂

There are so many other great ideas and I will eventually implement them all 🙂

And yes, definitely a MUST read type of book 🙂

Book Review – Wisdom Meets Passion: When Generations Collide and Collaborate

Wisdom Meets Passion: When Generations Collide and Collaborate

Author: Dan Miller and Jared Angaza

Sonya’s Review:  As I have mentioned previously, Dan Miller is someone who I really admire and love all his works, his books, his podcasts and his courses.  I read this book after listening to his other book 48 Days to the Work You love.  This was the first time I had been ‘introduced’ to Jared Angaza, Dan’s son and I was really taken with him.  He has since released an amazing podcast and is doing amzing things 🙂

I love that this book talks about having wisdom, combining it with passion and achieving success 🙂 its a really cool book and I highly recommend that you read it 🙂

And yes, definitely a MUST read type of book 🙂

Publisher’s Summary

Wisdom without passion is a Ferrari with no gas in the tank. Passion without wisdom is a tricked-out 57 Chevy with no steering wheel. Baby Boomers have relied on wisdom to pave the way to success. Education, knowledge, investing strategies, 401(k)s, real estate leverage, and carefully contrived career paths were expected to lead to success in the golden years. Seeing the overall failure of that formulaic approach to life, younger generations today have relied on passion as the guiding principle for their version of success.

Yet both are necessary. Regardless of age, those using only wisdom to achieve their goals are likely to end up disappointed and unfulfilled, feeling as though they have been chasing empty rainbows. Those trusting passion alone may lose the power of wisdom and end up underachieving, falling short of their potential, and unable to attain their worthy goals. In Wisdom Meets Passion, best-selling author Dan Miller and his entrepreneurial son Jared Angaza show how to blend the two, equipping readers to accomplish their greatest goals, experience the thrill of fulfilling relationships, create meaningful work, and complete their purpose and calling here on earth no matter which age group they represent.

Book Review – Will It Fly?: How to Test Your Next Business Idea So You Don’t Waste Your Time and Money

Will It Fly?: How to Test Your Next Business Idea So You Don’t Waste Your Time and Money

Author: Pat Flynn

Sonya’s Review:  I have been listening to Pat Flynn’s two podcasts for a really long time and love everything he does 🙂 So when he released this book it was only natural that I purchased the hard copy and the audio copy 🙂

Anything to do with starting a business interests me, anything that Pat writes about interests me, so those two together were always going to work 🙂

His concept is quite a good one and the free course that he has that goes along with the book is awesome, I have personally done it 🙂

Have a read and let me know your thoughts 😉

Most definitely a MUST read type of book 🙂
